We offer a range of brickwork repointing solutions throughout North East England. From minor repointing repairs to complete renovations, our skilled team handle every job with precision and expertise. Over time, factors such as weathering, moisture and age will cause brickwork mortar to deteriorate, leading to cracks, gaps between bricks and crumbling. This deterioration compromises both the structural integrity and aesthetic of your building, often leading to water ingress and further damages.

Professional brickwork repointing services are usually required to resolve these issues. By using the correct mortar mix that best suits the existing materials, brickwork repointing provides numerous benefits in addition to the mortar restoration. By replacing degraded mortar with durable and fresh material, repointing enhances the stability of structures, preventing further damage and potential structural failure. Additionally, repointing brickwork can enhance the insulation properties of buildings by improving energy efficiency and reducing heating costs, also enhancing aesthetics and adding value to your property. Stone House Repointing Northumberland

Repointing stone walls and structures is essential to maintaining their structural integrity as well as aesthetic beauty. Repointing exterior stone walls of residential properties, commercial buildings or historical landmarks is required due to factors such as weathering, ageing and settlement. As mortar quality deteriorates over time, potential water penetration becomes an increasing hazard – necessitating stonework repointing for protection against further degradation of the building. Different kinds of stonework structures, including stone retaining walls, stone garden walls and decorative stone features are vulnerable to mortar degradation and may need repointing in order to maintain stability and aesthetics. As with brickwork, the type of mortar used when repointing stone structures depends on their age and composition; traditional lime mortar may be best suited to older structures, whilst modern mortar mixes can be preferred for modern projects. Repointing stone walls using the appropriate mortar mix ensures their resilience, character, safety, and longevity for years to come. If you require stonework repointing services, please visit our stonework repointing page for further information.

We offer expert lime mortar repointing services throughout Newcastle upon Tyne and the Northumberland area, providing effective restoration solutions for a range of modern and historic structures, which often require careful restoration. Both modern and historic structures such as brick or stone homes, listed buildings, churches and monuments will require repointing due to natural decay over time. As lime mortar ages it can deteriorate into cracks, erosion and structural instability, often causing damp and water ingress; which requires the need for repointing. Modern lime mortar mixes, heritage mixes and Northumbrian mixes are among our specialities, providing a perfect match to the original materials found in both new and historic structures. Accurate mortar matching is key for maintaining authenticity whilst additionally preventing further damage. Repointing lime mortar offers structural reinforcement, also enhancing aesthetic charm and property value. At NE Repointing Services we always use the most suitable lime mortar mix for the job at hand, taking great care in selecting modern or heritage-approved materials as required; to guarantee authenticity and durability in all of our restoration work. Brick or stone chimneys within residential homes or historic buildings are regularly exposed to the elements and high temperatures, which leads to mortar deterioration over time. Gaps, cracks and mortar crumbling are common issues, requiring repointing to prevent further damages and to ensure safety. It is important to match the correct mortar mix to the chimney material, in order to withstand temperature changes and weather exposure. Our commitment to using high quality and heritage-approved materials is particularly vital for chimneys within listed buildings, preserving their architectural authenticity, also providing superior restoration. Patio Repointing Northumberland

Our patio repointing service can breath life back in to various types of patios, including brick, stone, and concrete. Over time, exposure to harsh weather conditions, foot traffic, and natural wear and tear can cause the mortar joints in patios to deteriorate, resulting in cracks, gaps, and uneven surfaces. Patio repointing becomes essential to restore the structural integrity and aesthetics of the patio, preventing further damage and enhancing its longevity. It’s crucial to match the correct mortar mix to the patio material to ensure optimal durability and performance. A dry mix mortar is often used for patio repointing due to its penetrative properties. Our team utilise the most suitable techniques and high-quality materials to deliver exceptional patio repointing results. By investing in our patio repointing services, homeowners can enjoy a revitalised outdoor space that not only looks beautiful but also withstands the test of time, providing a durable and functional area for relaxation and entertainment. Frequently Asked Questions

Visible signs such as crumbling or cracked mortar, damaged bricks, damp, water ingress or efflorescence (white salty deposits on the surface of your brickwork) can indicate that your property may require repointing.

All brickwork and stonework will eventually require repointing at some point in time but the frequency of this depends on various factors such as the age of the structure, the quality of the original mortar, and environmental conditions. Good quality brickwork repointing can last up to 50 years or longer.

We mostly work with lime based mortar mixes but this is not always the case. Prior to starting works we will evaluate your property to establish which mortar mix is best suited to the current materials used and condition of the property. When this has been determined we will carefully mix the appropriate mortar to suit the job at hand.

Each job is unique, so the time it will take to complete the repointing will differ depending on factors such as the size of the area that requires repointing, if scaffolding is required for the job and weather conditions.

Repointing will compliment the appearance of the existing brickwork or stonework, however, the colour and texture of the new mortar may slightly differ from the original, appearing fresher; as it will not contain any dirt, moss or other environmental contaminants.

The cost of repointing will typically range between £30-£80 per square meter; depending on factors such as the current state of the property and existing mortar joints, materials used, ease of access to the area, the amount of staff required, and if scaffolding or access machinery is required.
